Accentuation & Dynamics

Accents and musical nuances have the same effect as punctuation in writing. Indications like “crescendo” and “decrescendo” suggest a gradual raising, respectively lowering of the sound volume; they mark the passage from one musical nuance to another, from “piano” (soft) to “mezzoforte” (moderately strong) to “forte” (strong). Accents on the other hand allow you to highlight certain notes. Therefore you need to adapt the striking force to the musical situation. This course provides a video demonstration example, four technical exercises with their corresponding recordings, as well as six drum grooves you can play along to backing tracks.
