Drop D Rhythms

The drop D tuning is a variation of the open tuning, in which the low E string is tuned to D (like the fourth string, only an octave lower). This kind of tuning, which is very popular in various styles, highly simplifies playing songs in D but, thanks to the sympathetic resonance of the low D string, its main contribution consists in creating a deeper, fuller and more vibrant sound. This course provides a video demonstration example, three technical exercises (two- resp. three-note chords, four-note chords, open chords in D) with their corresponding recordings, as well as seven drop D rhythms you can play along to backing tracks.
