Playing Dead Notes

Dead notes add a percussive and dynamic quality to grooves and therefore play an integral part in the bass. Dead notes are played by muting the strings with your left hand; this can be achieved either by releasing finger pressure on the strings, or by touching the strings lightly, without pressing. This course provides a video demonstration example and two technical exercises with their corresponding recordings, as well as eight grooves and basslines you can play along to backing tracks.
