Playing Major Pentatonic Scales

A major pentatonic scale consists of five notes (1 2 3 5 6) which are separated from each other by the following intervals: 1-1-1½-1-1½ (Ex. in C: C-D-E-G-A). If you transpose it into a different key, the tonic (white circle) will be your point of reference. In almost every style, major pentatonic scales are the basic tool for comping (accompanying) chord progressions/changes in a major key and are therefore indispensable. This course provides a video of the five positions of the major pentatonic scale, two technical exercises to get accustomed to them, and eight grooves and basslines for putting them into practice by playing them along to backing tracks.
