Staccato is the shortening of the duration of a note. It is indicated by a small dot placed either above or beneath the note and is obtained by damping the note with the left hand finger, by lessening pressure on the string shortly after having played it. Playing notes sharply and separated makes basslines sound dynamic and cadenced. This course provides a video demonstration example and a technical exercise with its corresponding recording, as well as nine grooves and basslines you can play along to backing tracks.
