In off-beat rhythms notes are attacked on weak beats, so-called off-beats, (the second and fourth beats in 4/4 meter) or on the weak subdivisions of the beats (second eighth note or second and fourth sixteenth note) and they are succeeded by pauses placed on subsequent strong beats (first and third beats) or the strong subdivisions of the beats (first eighth note or first and third sixteenth notes). Off-beat rhythms endow your basslines with verve and freshness. This course provides a video demonstration example and two technical exercises with their corresponding recordings, as well as eight grooves and basslines you can play along to backing tracks.
