Power chords, which are indicated with a “5”, basically consist of a root/tonic and a fifth. You have the possibility to double or triple these notes by playing them one or two octaves higher. Because of the missing third, power chords can be used to replace both major and minor chords and that makes them particularly handy! As they are highly efficient – especially with saturation – you will stumble upon them at every turn in blues, rock and heavy metal. This course provides a video presentation of the power chords (current C forms and open chords), three technical exercises with their corresponding recordings, as well as seven rhythms that you can play along to just as many different backing tracks.
