Thumb Slapping Technique

The thumb slap is the fundamental element of the slapping technique. It is performed by smacking the string against the last fret with the side of your thumb by turning your wrist inwards sharply enough so that the thumb bounces back immediately. Once you have a good grasp of the slap, you can proceed to the second element of the slapping technique – the popping. This course provides a video demonstration example and a technical exercise with its corresponding recording, as well as nine grooves and basslines you can play along to backing tracks.
